Our Impact

Project's

These project's are a testament to the difference what a community group can make, creating a lasting change and continue to develop on these everyday!

Water Safety

In November 2016 the group performed Water safety training with York Rescue Boats  from this we set out to improve Water Safety on the River Wharfe in Tadcaster, by April 2017 we had placed 5 Life Buoys on the riverbanks in Tadcaster.

A massive thank you to the community for their donations and Tadcaster Theatre Company and the Free Mason's.

In Winter 2017 we continued to expand on improving Water safety on the River Wharfe in Tadcaster by adding warning risk signs near the Ings and susceptible areas to flooding.

Community events

In October 2016 & 2017 the group held Tadcaster's a Flood Advice Fair, putting all the Agency's under one roof.

In August 2017 we provided a drop in session for the public to speak to the Agency's at Tadcaster Albion's.

The group have organised and provided stewarding for events in the Town: Tadcaster's Christmas Market 2016,2017,2018,2019, Bridge Opening Celebration event February 2016 & 2017, Cycle Festival April 2017 TDY and Tadcaster Carnival 2018.

We will be providing Stewards for many events in Tadcaster for the future.

Resilience projects

Tadcaster has suffered 7 surface water floods in a 6 year period, the group continues to work with the Agency's to look at longer term solutions.

In July 2016 the group purchased two C100 Flood Pump's to help reduce the impacts of the re occurring surface water flooding in Tadcaster. The funds were raised by donations from multiple sources, Heineken, West Ridings Free Mason's, Lambert Engineering, Tadweld.

The group in November 2016 purchased 50 packs of hydro-snakes, 40 packs were collected, the remaining packs are in storage.

In Winter 2017 and 2018 we provided tenants and freehold properties who are on our database as at risk properties for flooding in Tadcaster a FREE package of simple and quick install items to help them become more resilient to flooding at property level for example: non return valves for sink waste and washing machine waste pipes, toilet pan covers, air grate covers to prevent ingress of water, polythene sheeting and collapsible crates.
Our aim is to encourage further resilience.
